CaLiForNiA PuMKiN PatCh- -

Seriously, who would drive 3 hours into another state just to go to a Pumpkin Patch and enjoy the fall festivities??. . . . . .
Well, I did!:)
* * *
About a month ago my friend Christelle asked me if I'd like to take a day trip to California to go to Bishop's Pumpkin Patch and afterwards go shopping at a huge mall not too far outside Sacramento. I'm always up for fun trips and shopping of course so I said "absolutely"!
So last Thursday we headed to Reno to stay with Christelle's in-laws and wake up early the next morning to head to Cali. They do this little trip every year with just the ladies and kiddos. I love to go and see places I've never seen before so I just soaked it all in. The drive to California was beautiful!
* * *
It was a day full of windy fun! You'll notice in all the pictures everyone's hair is blowing around like crazy. We were covered in dirt by the time we left which made for a very "grungy" trip to the mall.:) We still had tons of fun though!

* * *

Christelle's cute little kids Olivia & Henry became quite fond of me during this trip. I seem to be a kid magnet sometimes but I know that it's just because I act more like them than an adult.:)

Point made!;) Christelle and I had to see how tall we are this fall.
* * *
Too bad we couldn't lock them in there.:)
Of course we had to take the traditional train ride to tour all of Bishop's Pumpkin Patch.

And one of the funnest activities was the petting zoo! It was awesome! They had a pregnant pig that was enormous, various other farm animals and my favorite. . . . . . the baby goats!
My family will laugh when they see that I took pictures of the goats and I'm sure they'll have fun teasing me. They know I love goats and it all stems from when I was about 5 or 6 years old, my grandpa had a whole bunch of goats and I used to just play in their cage with them for hours on end. I'd ride the bigger ones and feed bottles to the babies.:) I just loved those goats and so my family nicknamed me "goat girl" because I always smelled so lovely when I'd come home from playin' with the goats.:)
And last but not least we had to pick out our own pumpkins! It's crazy to me how huge some of them get! All the kids wanted me to help them pick their pumpkins so I ended up not getting one myself. What can I say, I'm a kid magnet.:)

What a fun day trip to California! Thanks to Christelle for inviting me.:)

Today's a Great Day!

Wow! We're having a pretty good day here in the Shields' home!
* * *
I'll start of with the least exciting piece of news- - that is. . . . I got a job!! WAHOO!:) It was time. My apartment can't get any cleaner!:) I will be working Per Diem(which means that I'm a fill-in) at the Pershing County Hospital right here in Lovelock. This is great for 2 reasons: 1) I won't have to commute which I thought I was going to have to do and 2) being Per Diem means that I can choose whether or not I can work the days they ask me to which means that I won't get stuck being the "new employee" working all of the upcoming holidays. So I'm back to be a working woman but kind of on my terms.:) I must say that I'm usually very blessed with my job opportunities and I'm very thankful for that.
* * *
The most exciting bit of news I have is that (no, I'm not pregnant) . . . .
I am married to the smartest man alive!!!!:)
Bryce PASSED the Bar Exam!! We are so so excited!! I am so proud of him! Three and a half years of hard work has finally paid off. He is officially an attorney & will be sworn in to the Bar Association next month. It's a great excuse to get our parents out here to celebrate with us! I've never seen Bryce so excited! He's actually still in shock I think. He's been walking around the house with a "school boy" grin on his face since 3 o'clock when the results were posted.:)
Way to go Bryce. . . . .you did it!!
And I'm so so proud of you!

Happy 50th Birthday Mom!!

Today is my kind, beautiful, loving & giving mom's 50th birthday!:)
I know you'd never guess she's 50 huh?? I really hope I age as beautifully as she has!
* * *
I have been so upset this last week knowing that I wasn't going to be able to be there with my mom to help celebrate this special birthday but I'm so glad that her and my dad got to go spend some time together in Durango, Colorado, celebrating! My dad even took her to get a little pampered with a pedicure because that is something she loves.
My mom also got to take her "dream trip" to Europe just a few weeks ago! She and Adrienne had such a great time!

The birthday fun will continue with. . . . . a Carrie Underwood concert in Salt Lake City on November 19th! I surprised her with the tickets and we are so excited! Being the American Idol fanatics that my mom and I are, we are so excited for this concert! We'll be a couple of the idiots screaming & singing along to every song.:)

I hope you have a wonderful 50th birthday Mom! I love you tons!

Another World Series?

Most of you know that my husband is a huge Red Sox fan and they're in the playoffs this year....again!:) He gets so excited watching them play and it's a little contagious! So for the past week our "dates" have consisted of sitting in front of the TV with a few treats and watching the Red Sox play the Angels. Well, last night they beat the Angles in the 4th game and will advance to play the Rays for the ALCS championship! Bryce was very excited....to say the least.:)
Bryce and I have been married for 4 years and the Red Sox have won the World Series twice in those 4 years..... I must be good luck!;) We'll see!
